Pollanen says that the past few years have seen an increase in non-traumatic subdural hemorrhage (see Table 1 - Differential diagnosis of subdural hemorrhage of the commentary). This is a great example of the numerous alternative reasons for SDH in infants, none of which have to do with abuse.
