SBS-related SDH (subdural hematoma) has long been assumed to be the result of bridging vein rupture from the whiplash-like motion of the shaking presumed as the mechanism for injury. This is a review of non-traumatic conditions that can create SDH as well as an overview of the anatomy of the dura, recently discovered to have vascularization.
